WheelHouse Art Expands to Lexington, Kentucky — Opening February 2026 in Historic New Editions Gallery Space

LEXINGTON, KY — November 10, 2025 — WheelHouse Art is expanding its reach in 2026 with the opening of a second location in Lexington, Kentucky, taking over the long-standing home of New Editions Gallery at 500 W Short St, Lexington, KY 40507.

This exciting transition follows the retirement of Frankie York, who has directed New Editions Gallery for 37 years, establishing it as one of the most respected contemporary fine art spaces in Kentucky. WheelHouse Art will officially open its Lexington gallery in February 2026, marking a new chapter in the building’s distinguished artistic legacy.

The public is invited to an opening reception on Friday, March 20, 2026, from 6:00–8:00 p.m. during the LexArts HOP presented by VisitLex. The evening will feature a group exhibition of artists represented by both WheelHouse Art and New Editions Gallery, celebrating the creative continuity between the two institutions. The reception will include a casual gallery talk at 7:00 p.m. with WheelHouse Art owner Daniel Pfalzgraf, introducing him to the Lexington art community and sharing his vision for the gallery’s future. Admission is free and open to the public.

Continuing a Legacy, Expanding Possibilities

Founded in Louisville, WheelHouse Art will continue the tradition of exhibiting rotating solo and group exhibitions highlighting regional and national artists and provide museum-quality custom framing. The new Lexington location will expand art services by offering professional art installation services for homes and offices, the Curatorial Concierge Service, a flexible art leasing subscription for corporate clients, Fine Art Crating and Shipping, and more. WheelHouse Art will continue to carry artists currently showing at New Edition Gallery as well as bring in artwork by artists new to the Lexington market.

“We’re honored to continue the story of this beautiful space and celebrate what Frankie and New Editions Gallery have built for nearly four decades,” said Daniel Pfalzgraf, owner of WheelHouse Art. “Our goal is to make art accessible and meaningful—to create connections between people, places, and ideas through art.”

“Lexington has a rich creative energy, and we’re excited to join it—not just as a gallery, but as an engaged partner in helping the arts thrive across Kentucky,” added Pfalzgraf.

Frankie York, owner of New Editions Gallery, said, “After 37 years of sharing art with this community, I’m delighted to see WheelHouse Art carry the torch forward. Daniel’s commitment to artists and collectors ensures that the space will continue to inspire and serve Lexington’s vibrant art scene.”

Looking Ahead: Patricia Seggebruch Opens April 17

Following the grand opening, WheelHouse Art Lexington will present its first solo exhibition, New Work by Patricia Seggebruch, opening Friday, April 17, 2026, with a public reception from 6:00–8:00 p.m. The exhibition will feature new encaustic paintings by Seggebruch, celebrating her innovative use of material and color.
